Quick morning workout

I’ve decided that I need to get it together, so I’m starting with a no gym workout tomorrow morning. Here’s the plan:

15 push ups
20 sit ups
25 squats
20 alternating lunges
80 jumping jacks
60 second wall sit

Repeat three times

In addition, we are going low carb again. Thanksgiving will be the exception. I’m lucky to have a supportive husband, who will join me in ditching bread and the like.  Have I mentioned how much I love carbs?!

Just say no…to dryer sheets

I have abandoned dryer sheets for good. After a tip from a friend, I did a little research of my own on how those good smelling sheets can effect your health. Check out this article.

The next question was what to use in its place. Wool balls. That’s right…wool balls. You can find laundry balls here. I bought mine at a Norwex party, but you can find cheaper options online.

What does everyone love about dryer sheets? The smell. We have been conditioned to believe that items have to have a fresh scent in order to be clean, but doesn’t the absence of smell mean clean. If you really need the smell good, you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil before drying a load.

Do your own research and decide for yourself if abandoning dryer sheets is in the best interest of your family as well.

Cookie, cake, muffin top??!

Today,  I wanted pumpkin. There is nothing like pumpkin in the fall. That’s probably the number one reason I love this time of year. That being said I had no idea what to make, so I threw some ingredients in a bowl and came up with a cookie or cake or muffin top. I’m not sure what to call it except good.

They don’t look like much, but I’m pretty pleased. Here’s the recipe…

Ingredients:
1 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup tapioca flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp pumpkin spice
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup canned pumpkin

Directions:
Preheat ovento 350.
Mix dry ingredients in medium size bowl. Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.  Gradually add dry ingredients.
Spoon onto baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.

Enjoy!! FYI I love pumpkin spice,  so I probably doubled that amount.

Homemade Disinfectant

Household cleaners = Harsh chemicals

We are starting the switch to natural cleaners in our house. If you read the ingredient list and do a little research,  you might start doing the same.

Disinfectant was first thing I attempted to make.  Here is the recipe:

Homemade Disinfectant
1/4 cup alcohol
1/4 cup peroxide
1/4 tsp dish soap (just a few drops)

Add all of the ingredients into a spray bottle.  Fill it the rest of the way with water.

I’m impressed so far.  The smell is a little harsh,  so I added a few drops of essential oil.

On to the next project!

I have been a bum!

Stephen came home last month and I fell off the blogging and paleo wagon.  I have been enjoying our time together and apparently a lot of gluten filled carbs. Previously, I swore of the scale, but today I stepped on. Let’s just say that it was bad… Very, very bad.

Today is going to be a new start.  I have been really good today.  Boiled eggs, plain Greek yogurt, and mixed nuts.

Tonight I am craving salad. It is a weird thing to crave, but I’m dying for one.

Yum, yum!

Husband is back tomorrow!!

I am super pumped. I can’t wait to enjoy each other’s company and a few bottles of wine!

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to make for dinner tomorrow night. I am definitely thinking about the Butternut Squash recipe that I tried during the whole 30. The main dish is leaving me stumped. Chicken or beef?

Side note: I can’t wait to get some sushi this weekend. Date night, here we come!
